Ohio Career-Tech Report Card: Update prior to release

How is the graduation rate calculated? What factors determine the placement grade? These are the top two Ohio Career-Technical Education (CTE) Report Card questions posed in more than a dozen scheduled “open-line” phone calls this summer. As the calls are winding down, there is at least one more opportunity for questions before the first Ohio CTE Report Card is released by the end of August.

The one-hour call from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, can be accessed at (866) 551-1530 with the pin number 7398417#.

The CTE Report Card is the keystone of the Ohio secondary career-tech accountability system as defined by the federal Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act. Driven by Ohio House Bill 55 and Ohio Senate Bill 316, the report card development over the last two years has engaged representatives from the Ohio Board of Regents, the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, the Ohio Association of Career-Technical superintendents, the Ohio Association of City Career-Technical Schools and the Ohio Association for Career and Technical Education, as well as the Office of Career-Technical Education at the Ohio Department of Education. The components of the CTE Report Card were approved by the State Board of Education in May. Preliminary data was released in July.

The 2012-2013 Ohio CTE Report Card will contain data related to Career-Technical Education Concentrators from the graduating class of 2011 and will be issued for each of Ohio’s 91 career-technical planning districts (CTPDs).
